Welcome to Grains of Sense®, your source for fresh, hand-roasted Fair Trade Certified, Rain Forest Alliance Certified and/or sustainably grown, direct-trade relationship coffees.
Grains of Sense® is located in historic Staunton, Virginia; a quaint, vibrant community in the heart of the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. We offer our coffees through local area Farmers' Markets and have expanded sales to coffee shops, retail outlets, restaurants and bed and breakfasts in Virginia and neighboring states.
Our coffees are individually roasted on-site, fresh to order. All of our single origin coffee offerings are either Fair Trade Certified, Rain Forect Alliance Certified or are sustainably grown, direct-trade relationship varietals.

 Grains of Sense® is an active, registered and certified member of TransFair-USA - a program that ensures that the growers, and the workers whose coffee we feature receive a fair price for their coffee, and a fair wage for their efforts, and that the workers receive fair and equitable treatment..
 Grains of Sense® is also a registered member of the Rain Forest Alliance and includes coffees in our offerings carrying their Certification. Growers of Rain Forest Alliance Certified coffees are committed to and follow earth-friendly and environmentally sustainable farming practices, and, also follow strict guidelines that ensure fair and equitable treatment of the workers involved in the growing and harvesting of these coffees.
In addition to our coffees being Fair Trade Certified and Rain Forest Alliance Certified, our Grains of Sense® coffees have also been certified as Virginia's Finest from the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. The Virginia's Finest Program was developed and introduced in 1989 to identify, differentiate and promote top quality Virginia-produced and processed agricultural products around the world.
Grains of Sense® roasts customer orders as received, in small batches, with impeccable detail to enhance the regional flavor nuances of each coffee bean, while considering the roast darkness preference of each customer. As such, it typically takes 48 - 72 hours to roast and ship coffee orders from the date the order is received.
